Introduction
This history of St. Stephen's Anglican Church is dedicated to the memory of all past priests, deacons, and congregation members. The current church property, structure and contents are testaments to their determination, generosity, constancy, and abiding faith.
This document is printed to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the current church structure which was completed in 1938. The present structure replaces the original one which was begun in 1869 and completed circa 1873 and was destroyed by fire in 1937.
Archival and anecdotal findings were compiled and written by Carol (Campbell) Church during the Spring and early Summer of 1998 with thanks to:
- Dot Elliott and Marion Wellwood for passing on a 1938 newspaper clipping which inspired the assimilation of other archival records;
- Anne Campbell for research at the Public Archives of Nova Scotia;
- Glen Campbell, Harold Clark and John Clark for anecdotal information;
- Irving Leopold for cover design and printing;
- The Paper House, Dartmouth, N.S. for donation of cover material;
- Parish of St. Paul's, Rawdon, N.S. for photocopying service.
