Rector's Report 2008

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In daily life we must see it is not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratefulness that makes us happy. — Unknown

Thank you for your warm welcome upon my arrival here on the first Sunday of Advent. A good time to start a new relationship – at the start of our liturgical year. I am grateful to be among people whose dedication and perserverence is obvious. I so look forward to our growing relationship and how we go forward and proclaim Christ's love for us (all of God's creation), and make known that the Realm of God is now and yet to come.

Having gone over the parish registers, I note that there have been 3 Baptisms in the parish as well as 11 Burials this year (2008). It is always wonderful to welcome new members of the Body of Christ, and a sorrow to bid farewell to those who have gone home to God.

I'm finding my way around and getting to know people. One of the best ways for me to get to know peoples' names has been to attend the various meetings and gatherings. I'm getting there – albeit slowly with the names.

The only other thing that I can add to this limited report is that I look forward to our years together. And I can thank God that I am here – grateful and happy.

May God bless our years together and the work we do in his name.

Your sister in the Lord's work,

Marliyn
