St. James' Anglican Church Council Annual Report 2008
There were seven (7) services held at St. James' during 2008, with an average in attendance of about 32 members from throughout the Parish as well as visiting guests.
Bishop Sue Moxley visited the Parish and conducted the service at St. James' on June 22nd. On September 14th Rev. Carson Baxter held a Parish Appreciation Service at St. James' Church, with members from throughout the Parish receiving certificates of appreciation during the service for their volunteer work within the Parish. The final service for St. James' for 2008 was the Parish Thanksgiving Service, which was held on October 12th and was well attended.
Our members continued to assist wth various A.C.W. and Parish fund-raising functions, such as the Parish Take-Out Supper and the A.C.W.'s Annual Labour Day Supper this past September.
To be compliant with ongoing insurance and fire inspection/regulations, the fire extinguisher was checked and refilled in 2008. As well, an electrical inspection of the church was conducted in the fall and deficiencies have been rectified.
Several members of St. James' Church undertook to make and sell pies as a way of raising some much-needed funds.
We look forward to the year 2009 and hope the monthly services scheduled at St. James' from spring to late fall are as well attended as previous years.
Respectfully submitted by:
