This year our Sunday School has diminished to one teacher, who is willing to have something ready for the children: one child who comes regularly and a few others who come from time to time. As a result of these changes, the Spiritual Development Committee thought we might try one "Teaching Sunday" a month during our regular worship time at St. David's. This Teaching Sunday would be geared for the children as well as for the adults.
The worship service would take this shape: a particular theme would be chosen--perhaps seasons of the year, advent, epiphany, etc.; why the clergy and servers wear what they wear; Saints Days, etc. Scripture would be chosen to reflect the theme, and then stories, homilies, music, or activities would be used for explanation with participation from the children and any adults who would be interested. This part of the service would be the time up to the Offertory, and we would then have the Eucharist.
This is for a trial period up to December. The Spiritual Development Committee will be asking for your feedback at that time.
The first of these Teaching Sundays will be October 21st.
